Earth Week Events

Earth Week is next week, Monday 4/17 to Monday 4/24. EarthCo is doing most of the logistical legwork this time around, and has provided a list of events:

Monday 4/17

Policy and the Environment
Opening address by Don Melnick, Thomas Hunt Morgan Professor of Conservation Biology, Columbia University
Dinner provided by Bhakti
7 to 9 PM, Carleton Cafeteria, S. W. Mudd Building

Tuesday 4/18

Simple Things You Can Do to Lower Your Environmental Impact
Lunch provided by the Earth Institute
12:30 to 1 PM, Satow Room, 5th Floor Lerner Hall

Perceptions of a Sustainable Campus
Presented by SIPA Environmental MPAs
5:30 to 8 PM, Davis Auditorium, Schapiro CEPSR Building

Wednesday 4/19

Weather Forecast 2036: Our World in Climate Change
In collaboration with the Columbia University Partnership for International Development
Adam Sobel, Associate Professor, Applied Physics and Applied Mathematics and Earth and Environmental Sciences, Columbia University; and other distinguished panelists

Thursday 4/20

Environmental Senior Thesis Poster Session

A comedy show featuring Will Ferrell, Ben Stiller, Jack Black, Larry David, Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and other distinguished funny people.

Friday 4/21

Battle of the Bands: BBQ & Kegs
In collaboration with Bacchanal
Free burgers, veggie burgers, and–you heard it right–beer.
5 to 9 PM, East Lawn

Saturday 4/22

Earth Day Fair
All day, Morningside Park

Monday 4/24

Earth Week Closing Dinner
Presented by Barnard Earth, with all local ingredients
5 to 7:45 PM, Hewitt Dining Hall

Also, Barnard Earth will be tabling and providing free information and activities Monday through Wednesday 4/17 to 4/19 from 11 AM to 1 PM in Macintosh Hall.

Oh yes, classes will be skipped.
